Swine Flu

So im guessing by now we have all heard of the swine flu.
Just a quick background on it(of what i know)
this flu started in a pig in Mexico and its spread to humans(normally flu's stay within species like dog flus stay with dogs)
I have heard that about 150 people have already died in Mexico cause of the swine flu. And one here in Texas.
And i know there are people in Texas and California.
There are people in Imperial, San Diego Counties and somewhere in Sacramento that also have the swine flu
and my sisters teacher said he got a text messege saying that indio high school is being closed down for 7 days because someone there has the swine flu.
Ok now im getting a little scared cause Indio isnt to far from where I live.
So remember to wash your hands daily and before every meal.
and dont touch your face, esp, your mouth, unless you've washed your hands
and when you sneeze cover your mouth then wash your hands.....

Life is Crazy

So I know I havent posted any posts recently, its just life has gotten a little bit crazier ever since someone made an offer on my house.
So now both my parents are looking for homes and we will probably have to start packing soon.
(I will probably find alot of missing things when we start packing.)
And on top of that I have this social studies project that is due soon.
and of course everything else i do.
So after we have moved out and have settlled into our new homes life will be a little easier

State Testing

So yesterday, I went back to school after a fun and tiring spring break.
And today I started state testing(STAR), STAR is a standerized test to see which schools are better than others and to see if the teachers are doing their job.
I know the teachers tell you that this test really affects you, but actually its affects your teacher, school, district and state.
They just want you to do a good job so they dont get a bad review.
But im not saying it doesnt totally affect.
It does a little especially if your going into high school next year, the state test and plus your grades will determine what classes your in.
like if you didnt do so good in the math portion of the test then you might have to take two math classes and no elective...

So pretty much all i wanted to say was i hate state testing

Finally Back

So I am finally back from DC and NYC.

I arrived home roughly at 11:30 PM pacific time.

and its amazing to think at 10:00 AM(eastern time) I was standing on Liberty Island(which the Statue of Liberty is on) and at 10:00 PM(pacific time) I was safely on my way home from the airport.

but anyways this trip was so amazing and so much fun but also very tiring

DC and NYC are both amazing places

DC is a place to remember and cherish the past and NYC is a place to live in the past and see the diversity of people, so this trip was something i will always remember
i think some of us in the group(i went with my school) really bonded together
because before this trip we mostly had our own little groups
but most of now have bonded together and experienced something together
my favortie part of this trip was probably the empire state buliding, its so tall and so cool it goes up 80 floors in about 1 min. and then you take another elavator for the last 6 floors.
since right now i am still very tired and cant remember everything i will stop here and i will write about my trip later

but before i'm done here are some random things from the trip:
toki-yoooooo
charlie bit me
justin please hold it in
its a comb not a switchblade
more to come!!!!(as soon as i can remember them)

Spring Break

So it is finally spring break.... for some people spring break is already over.
but anyways I will be in Washington DC ( which isnt in the state of Washington[jazmine]) and NYC for all of spring break
so i wont be on at all next week
but the week after i will definitely make some more posts...

first impressions

Did you know first impressions are made in the first 5 to 30 seconds(average is 7) when meeting someone?.... so thats pretty much saying that in the time someone can say " Hi my name is Irene." you can make a first impression.
55% of first impressions are based on someones apperance like wardrobe, hair/makeup, body language, facial expressions.
And 40% of first impressions are based on voice and speech quality. (the words you chose, whether you mumble or speak clearly)
And sadly only 5% of first impressions are based on what is actually said.

I did not make that up, I got it from "amaze-the twists and turns of getting along" thats a girl scout journey book.

procrastinating

Procrastination... we all know its bad but we all still do it. Mostly out of habit, or just plain old laziness. Right now I should be working on my Social Studies, Math, Science, and Language Arts homework.... I know I will eventually do it but I am just so lazy and I really don't want to do it. GAH!!!.... But if I were to keep procrastinating and procrastinating it would all come back to me and slap me in the back of my head.... Cause if I dont do my homework then I wont be able to turn it in, then my grade will go down, and if that keeps going I will most likely fail all my classes and wont be able to promote, (which would really suck and really suprising)
Sometimes I wonder how I am still swimming and still have good grades, cause I am a very very lazy person and I procrastinate alot...

definition

So I was working on my homework, and I had to look up a word, so I was on this dictionary website, and at the time I was on my blog trying to find something to write about, when I thought. Hmmmm.... i decided to look up the word "sport" and many things came up but this was the 1st one that came up

"an athletic activity requiring skill or physical powers and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc."
So for anyone that wanted a formal definition of sport there you go.....
But I think they forgot 1 small thing in that definition.....FUN!!!... Sports are supposed to be fun, weither you are a little 5 year old chasing after a soccer ball or some major league baseball player getting alot of $$$....
So when your out there playing sports either on a team or with some friends, remember to have FUN!!!!!!!!!

sportsmanship

So in my previous post I was talking about competition and well I was going to start talking about sportsmanship, but then i noticed the post was all ready really long so i decided to wait. So here is my next blog.
Ok so well... sportsmanship...what is sportsmanship?... Well by my standards no matter how talented or skilled an athlete is, he/she isn't a good athlete unless he/she has good sportsmanship...Now what is good sportsmanship? And is there bad sportsmanship? Good sportsmanship is just the simple things like shaking hands with the other player(s) or helping your opponent up when you accidentally knock them over, or congratulating the other team or player for winning, Those are just some of the few signs of good sportsmanship.
Now is there such a thing as bad sportsmanship... well there is. Pretty much the exact opposite of some of the things I said above ^^^^... like bragging about winning or making a fit when you lose.(its all part of the game so if you cant handle losing or cant be a good winner then your not cut out for sports or a bunch of other things in life).
Ok well I feel like I'm going to start rambling on about stuff so I'm just gonna stop here and start again some time later....

sports

well what can i say.... sports is sports. but we all know its more than that.
theres all the hard work and commitment you put into it, the sweat and tears, but in the end we know theres a competition at the end of all that (thats the best part, its why we do it right?!?!)
the competition is the best part!!!!
for me its hearing that beep and diving off that block and looking at that black line, reaching for that wall...
and yes i know swimming is a boring sport...to watch
but to be in the actual competition is the best part(especially the shorter ones or when you have a good competitor that will give you a challenge)
ok i am getting a little off topic
but i will be back posting later but this wont be the last time you read about swimming in my blogs :D

hello!!!

hello my name is irene and i am new to this. so if anyone could help me like tell me anything i might need to now, that would be really nice.
Thank you
